What is a tubular skylight? "Tubular skylight" is a  term commonly used to describe energy efficient, high performance day lighting systems that are cylindrical in shape and designed to light rooms up with natural sunlight. A small clear collector dome on the roof allows sunlight to enter into a highly reflective "light pipe" (tube) that extends from the roof level to the ceiling level. The light pipe is coated with a silver finish mirror quality that allows the full spectrum of sunlight to be channeled and dispersed evenly into a room through the means of a diffuser located in the ceiling. The solar attic fan lowers attic temperature which reduces the load on the HVAC System. The most obvious reason for attic ventilation is to lower attic space temperature during the warmer months. Attic temperatures can exceed 160°F during hot summer days. Proper attic ventilation can reduce those temperatures a great deal. No matter how much insulation is in the attic, heat can still transfer into adjacent living spaces.
